Job description
The Supervisor would be responsible for the administrative, day-to-day functioning of the Building Inspection Department (BID). Supervises Building Inspectors and Administrative Team. Prepare schedules for inspections to be performed the following day.  Keep track of reports and process as required.  Issue certificates for quality assurance inspections when all inspections are complete.  Become knowledge of working within the municipalities to better service our clients.  Be able to communicate with clients and government agencies. The person needs to be reliable (responsibilities, tardiness, etc.) and have a good work ethic, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. They need to be able to cooperate with co-workers and clients and they also should be able to listen, understand, and follow instructions 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

•Schedule the inspection personnel to meet client requests for required inspections. 

•Help in preparing proposals and acquiring the knowledge necessary to prepare for department manager as requested.  

•Go over reports as they arrive and distribute or file as required.

•Process all reports and invoices requiring typing.

•Issue Certificates for quality assurance as inspections are completed

 
•Post job positions with various organizations when directed.

 
•Keep up with contacts must be accessible to all.

 
•Supervise Building Inspection Department Staff. Check over time sheets.  Alert department manager of items requiring his attention.

 
•Go online when necessary to verify proper permit numbers are being used.

 
•Go online and verify all inspections were recorded with the municipalities so that certificate of occupancy may be issued without problem.   

 
•Other duties may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least two years prior relevant permitting, construction, or related building experience.   Two years' experience supervising three or more individuals. Computer proficiency must include Intermediate to Advanced Level MS Word, Word perfect, PowerPoint, Excel. Typing speed 50 WPM. Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
