Position Description Overview

Primary technical responsibility of this position will be to manage all aspects of the Batch Scheduling and Workload Automation functions and consolidation of several tools into CA7 and BMC Control-M. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Day to day activities include monitoring of scheduled streams that are requested from day shift co-workers, and/or running jobs or implementing tasks as requested, etc.
  • Scheduling would include adding or deleting  jobs to/from  current streams, or making changes to jobs depending on requests.
  • Responding to pages or calls from Operations on break /fix scenarios for abended/aborted jobs, requiring restarts/cancels, depending on instructions from Dev/Support or co–workers.
  • Work on conversion activities which could include adding jobs to CA7XP from a particular scheduler or making changes to scripts for those jobs being converted. 
  • Work on Mainframe sessions to support CA-7 scheduler components and Control-M for z/OS
  • Perform quarterly user audits, and update security modules on mainframe to add or remove users.
  • Liaison with Support(dev/coworkers) group for details on tasks related to converting, and if possible attending meetings.
  • Helping other groups with deploys, documentation, etc.
  • Document new procedures for day-to-day processes. Address areas where there may be tribal knowledge by publishing new documents.
  • Adhoc request likes scripting/coding for certain conversions with Oracle/Unix.   Also could be using Jira for projects and problem tracking, and possible administering group activities in this tool.
  • Must be available to support the on-call rotation.

Scope of Job

Leads complex business projects . Provides coaching and mentoring to less experienced engineers.

  • 8+ yrs of related IT experience. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience and appropriate certificates.
  •  CA7, CA7XP, JCL, Mainframe, TSO/ISPF, Unix scripting, JMO, CA- Unicenter, Service Desk(Change management tickets), Linux, Solaris, Windows, System Admin, Oracle, CA agent installs, Control-M.
