Job description

The ideal candidate will be comfortable generating frequent financial reports for senior management. They should track financial information in a well-organized manner and assist the Controller in all aspects related to finance at the organization. This candidate should be comfortable analyzing balance sheets in order to forecast revenue and keep track of accounts payable and receivable. 
 
  • Apply a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
  • Analyze job costing transactions and reports and revise as needed
  • Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts monthly
  • Maintain knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and year end closeout
  • Ensure timely reporting of all monthly financial information
  • Ensure the timely reporting of all taxes, federal state and cities as required
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures to enhance workflow and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy and an emphasis on internal controls
  • Assist with the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
  • Assist Controller in the interim and year-end financial audit process
  • Assist Project Management with support and guidance related to finance
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions
  • Timely reconciliation of monthly bank statements
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Work with Controller to ensure clean and timely audits
  • Respond to inquiries from other departments regarding financial reports and special information requests
  • Assist the Controller and Chief Financial Officer with special projects and overall process improvements
  • Verification of employment for loans
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting - BBA
  • CPA or CPA Eligible (150 required hours completed)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in construction accounting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Audit experience with CPA firm preferred
