Job description

SUNY Broome Community College is a comprehensive community college located in the scenic Southern Tier of New York, the college has approximately 10,000 students annually, and serves over 4,000 full-time and nearly 3,000 part-time students per semester in Liberal Arts, Business & Public Services, Health Sciences, and STEM, programs.  An additional 10,000 students are served through the college's community education and non-credit programs.

SUNY Broome Community College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor/Instructor available beginning Spring, 2020 in the Department of Engineering Technologies.

Strong background of teaching and industry experience required in the areas of Mechanical Engineering Technology and/or Manufacturing Technology.  The candidate should possess knowledge and practical experience in one or more of the following areas:  mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, robotics/automation, microprocessor controls, operate/program/repair CNC equipment, CAD/CAM, precision measurement tooling, continuous improvement, process control, quality control and management. Rank dependent upon credentials.

Assistant Professor requires a Master's Degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or related field, with either three years teaching experience or an appropriate combination of teaching, relevant work experience and scholarly activity.  Instructor requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in mechanical manufacturing engineering or related area, with work experience in area appropriate to the teaching field strongly preferred; approved Master's Degree required within four years for continuing appointment.  Registration as a Professional Engineer or Quality Engineer a plus.

Prior teaching, especially in a community college environment, is preferred as well as prior industrial experience.  Preference given for demonstrated commitment to the community college philosophy, familiarity with the use of technology in the classroom, excellent interpersonal skills, and willingness to work with both traditional and non-traditional students.  Salary range is $49,432 to $61,790 for Assistant Professor, $45,182 to $56,478 for Instructor.  Salary offer will be based on qualifications.  Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
