What Warehouse Operations contributes to Cardinal Health

Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing/controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc. Also responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of product receipt from vendors to the shipment of products (via prescribed service parameters) to a variety of internal and external customers.

  • Demonstrates expert understanding of all levels of the job family and has thorough knowledge of jobs outside area of responsibility
  • Takes the lead in effectively applying new processes and skills in accomplishing assignments
  • May provide technical guidance and training to others
  • Maintains appropriate licenses, training and certifications
  • Works on complex problems that require independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issue
  • Makes recommendation for new or revised processes and has a role on the implementation

  • Works with minimal degree of supervision. Has latitude to make decisions in exceptional circumstances within established guidelines

  • High School diploma/GED equivalent
  • Associates or Bachelors degree preferred
  • leadership experience required
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and follow up skills required
  • knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good written communication skills and keen eye for details
  • Lean Six Sigma experience preferred

What is expected of you for success in your role

  • Demonstrates multi-function expertise and leadership skills to assign work, monitor area performance and suggest process improvement
  • Accurately and efficiently performs several operational tasks, including trouble shooting and research
  • Operates multiple types of material handling /packaging / warehouse equipment to include Cherry Picker, Reach Truck and Pallet Jack
  • Performs several or specialized warehouse operations functions within the operating guidelines of the facility
  • Identifies and presents process improvements for consideration and implementation
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills to various levels within the organization

Accountabilities in this role

  • Use good judgment in order to carry out detailed instructions
  • Facilitate warehouse and environmental health and safety training
  • Ensure that Cardinal Health's principles, policies and procedures are consistently practiced
  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with others and protect sensitive information
  • Lead and motivate the warehouse team to achieve productivity and quality goals
  • Provide the training and development of new hires and retraining of other employees
  • Responsible for daily workloads and coordinating workflow to accomplish overall business objectives
  • Provide day-to-day tactical direction and guidance to warehouse associates
  • Fill-in for others and performing functional tasks when necessary
  • Perform as an individual contributor completing advanced and complicated tasks requiring considerable judgment, independent analysis and decision making and detailed knowledge of the position and procedure
  • Handle general employee inquiries and solve routine problems within scope of the position, referring more complex problems to the next level supervisor
  • Maintain positive employee relations
  • Champion process improvement goals
  • Support the supervisor by assisting in the monitoring of attendance/tardiness and provide input for performance appraisals of warehouse associates
  • Work closely with leads and supervisors within the facility to promote teamwork
