This position is responsible for inspecting, surveying and sampling a variety of mineral commodities including Cooper, Lead, Zinc, Iron Ore, Precious Metals and Steel Cargoes for trading purpose. The inspector will support the Minerals Business by performing inspections at existing job sites and writing technical reports detailing inspection findings per nomination, in a timely manner. The purpose of this role is to serve our clients in the best possible manner by performing and delivering a variety of inspections and sampling services and informing the administration team with accurate updates and quality reports to provide to our clients.
The position is responsible for surveying cargo by performing the following duties.
- Make independent judgments based on the data collected, use data to determine if product meets client expectations and requirements;
For each site, attend and observe the loading and unloading of cargo process from ships and other forms of transit; responsible for identifying damage to the cargos as they are loaded and/or unloaded.
Execute sampling & sample preparation and deliver sample to laboratory for analysis. Check and verify testing data/ field documents for accuracy. Record accurate information and details.
Utilizes data from obtained field documents to prepare an inspection report, submitted to the office detailing results of inspection
Communicate and gives direction to the administration staff regarding details of the inspection requirements.
Liaison with terminal & warehouse personal for execution of inspections.
Responsible for performing Loading, Discharge, Stock Verification, Sampling and Damage Inspections, verify that the samples are labeled with identifying product, location of sample, date, and time of collection.
Oversee performance of vessel draft surveys, barge surveys and product inspections of products, including coal, fertilizers, cement, and steel.
May use sophisticated draft surveying techniques (draft immersion) to calculate quantities of cargo loaded or discharged from vessels, taking into account any changes in weight that may take place during cargo operation;
Oversee cargo sampling and analysis and inspect cargo holds;
Use SGS standard methods and reporting procedures to product draft survey reports (including certificates of weight and certificates of hold cleanliness and tightness);
Assure reports to clients in stand format and in accordance with corporate quality programs, policies, and procedures.
