Responsibilities

The Central Service / Processing Technician is responsible for maintaining high standards for decontamination, assembly, inspecting, wrapping, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment for Surgical Services and all Ancillary Departments. This includes working in conjunction with the OR staff to provide timely sterile products, instrument sets, and case carts where applicable.  The Central Service/Sterile Processing Technician maintains consistency and continuous workflow between the OR and Central Processing while practicing above average customer service.



Qualifications

Skills & Abilities:

Demonstrate a superior knowledge of packaging and sterilization procedures utilizing various sterilization methods, excellent organizational skills, and good communication skills.

Must be capable of lifting, standing, pushing, pulling, walking.

Ability to take call, work various shifts including nights, holidays, and weekends.

 

Training & Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Completion of an accredited school for Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology Program

Certification required

 

Experience:

A minimum two years of experience in an SPD department utilizing a Case Cart System.
