Position Description

This position will lead multi-year programs driving scientific innovation, technological advances, and medical quality program development and implementation that yield operational and/or quality improvements across regional and esoteric laboratories. This position will also work closely with the Sr. Medical Director of Medical Quality and Vice Presidents of R&D.


•         Support medical and operational leaders in designing and implementing strategic roadmaps in medical technology and testing innovation


•         Value Engineering: drive scientific innovation that results in operational improvements, including lower cost of testing, improved turnaround time, faster speed to market, and reduced errors


•         Technology Roadmap: R&D technology innovation program to identify and develop new methods or tools to drive step-change advancements in laboratory medicine across our disease and technology areas


•         Digitization of Medical Quality: digitization of lab processes that result in significant gains in quality and productivity; digitization and automation of quality management activities that compile quality data for analysis, proactively identify issues, and/or streamline quality management processes


•         National Medical Quality Initiatives: drive implementation of medical quality improvement programs across all labs and units at Quest Diagnostics


•         Garner and prioritize ideas, including pain points, opportunities for improvement, and best practices, in structured and systematic manner in order to develop and refine the pipeline

o   Top-down ideas from market research and industry intelligence

o   Bottom-up, grass-root ideas from scientific, operational, and other medical leaders


•         Manage a large portfolio of projects and monitor their progress, performance metrics, roadblocks, and next steps


•         Scale and replicate medical innovation nationally across labs


•         Lead individual projects and working teams to effectively initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and close projects


•         Work collaboratively with Medical, Operations, IT, and Finance to execute against the portfolio of inter-related projects

Desired Experience


•         Deep knowledge of clinical laboratory testing technology and operations


•         Demonstrated experience leading programs across multiple strategies and workstreams (6 to 8 years experience)


•         Demonstrated data analysis skills (e.g., for opportunity sizing)


•         Effective written and verbal communication skills across multiple formats:  formal presentations, meetings, conference calls, e-mails, and memos


•         Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with others


•         Demonstrated experience leading changes


•         Demonstrated ability to influence business leaders


•         Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement and process management

Education


•         Bachelors degree required


•         Formal training in project management or continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Total Quality Management, Lean, Theory of Constraints) desired
