Job Description



Job Summary:

Purpose: To lead the development and growth of Seqirus new product portfolio and advance strategic projects shaping the future of the company

  • Lead development of New Products strategy and planning, shaping the future of the company
  • Lead development of 10-year Long-Range Forecasts and contribute to the annual Integrated Franchise Plan
  • Work cross-functionally: across R&D to ensure alignment on new product strategies; across Regions/Countries to develop and execute Marketing strategies that support achievement of business goals; across Operations and Supply Chain teams on product forecasts to ensure medium-long term operational capacity planning meets revenue forecasts
  • Lead the Global Product Leadership Teams that lead matrix / cross-functional teams across the organization to develop Product and Technology strategies and roadmaps
  • Provide leadership within the organization around building a culture of innovation that is focused on finding new ways to support growth of our products
  • Develop vision and mission for the Strategy & New Products team and develop culture and values that adhere to CSL and Seqirus Core Values


Major Responsibilities:

Assess New Product Opportunities fitting with Seqirus long-term strategy

  • Assess new targets, new delivery devices, new therapeutics in line with Corporate goals

  • Lead early stage market research or forecasting to support market entry or go/no-go decisions
  • Lead development of analytical models, scenario analyses, and other structured analysis to support senior management decision-making
  • Develop pre-launch or early commercialization plans and timelines for new products prior to handover to Global Brand Teams
  • Develop comprehensive market assessment reports for potential new targets or areas of interest
  • Represent Commercial on task forces or workgroups related to new product assessments
  • Interact with other stakeholders (R&D, Business Development, Regions/Countries) to ensure market and sales forecasts of new products are rigorously conducted
  • Contribute to financial models built for acquisition or in-licensing decisions, as needed
  • Support business development activities, such as commercial due diligence, as needed

Serve as Seqirus team lead for Competitive Intelligence and Market Knowledge

  • Develop the organizational framework to ensure Seqirus develops, analyses, and distributes market and competitor intelligence to inform strategies and tactical execution
  • Lead activities not limited to customer-related research, competitive and market intelligence reports, scenario/implications/insights development and strategic analytics
  • Position Franchise Strategy & Market Access as the “face” of strategic intelligence for the organization - a strategic consultant and business intelligence expert to senior management and business unit leaders across Seqirus regions and sites
  • Regularly lead communications related to strategic intelligence; Influence change in current strategic direction and support sound decision-making through expert facilitation and by connecting the dots between intelligence and strategic direction
  • Proactively identify and communicate new growth opportunities or emerging risks
  • Manage Competitive Intelligence vendors and ensure external reports are incorporated and institutionalized into Seqirus own intelligence/data warehouse

Identify Commercial Innovation Opportunities and develop strategies

  • Identify Global Innovation Target areas – product, technology, or service - that advance existing, adjacent, and white space areas for the portfolio
  • Assess cross-industry best practices, competitive intelligence, new business models and technologies to enhance current global and regional planning practices. Integrate creativity into strategy formulation and execution.
  • Conduct market assessments that help determine buy/build/partner market-entry decisions that support market expansion or investments into adjacencies
  • Select areas of priority through strong multi-functional and region/market collaboration in Strategic Planning process
  • Develop comprehensive guidance and tools to support Regional execution
  • Liaise with Business Development / Licensing to assess adjacencies or investments that align with Seqirus product portfolio

Support near and long-term Strategic Planning

  • Contribute to the annual process of defining strategic plans, and work with business units/functions to ensure objectives are aligned and integrated
  • Lead the processes to develop the 10-year Long Range Forecasts by working with Regions, Countries and cross-functionally with R&D and Operations and Finance
  • Drive processes in which all gates and dates are clearly understood and results in all strategic planning deliverables being met. Monitor factors that would indicate the need for redirection of strategy
  • Ensure organizational reviews are conducted, communicating results to top management, and developing strategies based on organizational reviews
  • Drive strategic analyses to support the development of long-term growth plans and profitability goals



Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in Business Administration or other advanced degree
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech (Marketing, Strategic Planning, or Forecasting)
  • Prior Management Consulting experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional and senior management to impact decision-making
  • Previous managerial experience preferred
  • Vaccines experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to lead teams and influence senior leaders
  • Marketing, Sales or Strategic Planning experience
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, strategic and creative thinking skills
