Responsibilities

The financial counselors in the ED will be responsible for verfication of insurances for patients presenting to the emergency department. They will also be responsible for applicable copayment collections. In addition, these individuals will assist the patient with education of Medical Assistance benefits and patient financial assistance opportunities. The financial counselors will complete the Medical Assistance application with the patient or family member.



Qualifications

HS diploma/GED required; The ideal candidate will have medical billing experiece from either a hospital billing environment or an insurance company background. They should also have experience in dealing with the public as it will require very polished customer service skills to be able to collect copayments from patients in a very emotional environment.
