This position provides meal service to patients following physician prescribed diets and patient menu preferences. Serves as a communication representative between patient, food and nutrition services, nursing staff and dietitians.
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent, or currently attending; ability to interpret diet manual.
MINIMUM SKILLS: Able to read and write English, Spanish speaking desirable; able to represent department in customer-friendly manner on the phone; able to deal with a variety of personalities and situations in a positive manner; able to develop thorough understanding of therapeutic diets through formal education or on-the-job training; able to complete basic math (calculating %'s, addition/subtraction/multiplication/division).
EXPERIENCE: One-year experience working with therapeutic diets and food service in a healthcare setting, preferred. Computer experience desirable.

-Responsible to Food and Nutrition Service Director, or designee
-Bloodborne pathogens A. Works in clean, well-lighted, ventilated smoke-free environment. Working hours are varied, with flexibility due to unexpected changes in schedule and emergencies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: An individual performing this work can expect and be able to stoop, bend, stand, sit and use gross motor skills and fine motor skills for long periods. The person must be able to consistently lift 15 pounds. May sit up to 90% of the day, depending on position. Requires good vision and dexterity in using computer. Ability to climb a ladder and push/pull carts.
