This role contributes to improving health, safety and environment (HSE) performance, helping the organization to deliver a high performing culture through clear accountability and a skilled organization in the Process Automation Process Industries (PAPI) based in Westerville, Ohio.

Reporting to the NAM (North America) HUB PAPI HSE Safety Manager, you will contribute to improving Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) performance and Corporate Responsibility in assigned geography. Support the business by applying in depth knowledge to offer solutions and advice through delivery of group wide performance improvement programs and/or Group Audit Program.

Your responsibilities

  • Governance: Delivers and deploys HSE training, audit and group wide performance improvement programs to the Divisions and Local Business Units
  • Metrics: Provides analysis of HSE data within area of responsibility. Reports on progress on implementation of Sustainability Objectives and key performance indicators (KPI) as required
  • Regulatory compliance: Contributes to assessing emerging trends and legislation in HSE and communicates relevant information on legal requirements within area of expertise and geography. Supports constituent countries to operate in compliance with standards and respective legal obligations
  • Risk management: Delivers audit (as per Group Audit Program) and supports follow up of improvement actions in the Local Business Units
  • Communication and engagement: Cooperates across functions and with business partners to raise awareness and drive performance, engages with internal and external stakeholders to build commitment and credibility for the CoE (Center of Excellence​)
  • Operational support: Contributes to driving behavioral change and continuous improvement though delivery of training and competence initiatives and expert support to the Local Business Units in line with yearly HSE plan agreed with the Business Units. Supports the sharing of best practice. Coordinates reporting on HSE performance and support delivery of Group audit program
  • Project management: Contributes to and/or plans and executes Health, Safety and Environment performance and Corporate Responsibility related projects. Develops and reports on project objectives. Manages project resources such as manpower, financials and other relevant factors



Your background

  • Bachelors Degree in science / Engineering or equivalent with additional professional qualifications in HSE & Management Systems and minimum 2 years of experience in international and production company, working as HSE specialist
  • Radiological basic knowledge
  • An experience in electrical companies, knowledge of electrical components and related risk would be a plus
  • The ability to manage complex issues and work in cross functional teams
  • A collaborative, solution focused approach with ability to learn quickly and work with different systems/applications
  • Strong communication & writing skills in English
  • Previous experience in service function would be a plus
  • Ability to travel to ABB and customer locations up to 20%
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
