Responsibilities

What You'll Do

As a data scientist or machine learning engineer intern, you will be involved first hand with actual data science projects. You will be writing code that matters. You will adopt and become the leader of a project with high business potential the outcome of which you decide.  Your day to day will include business meetings that further contextualize the business problem you are trying to solve, and applying your creativity towards a solution.  You will be using the latest machine learning tools, working in a full cloud environment to accomplish the compute resources necessary to fully embrace this tooling, and learning best practices around code quality, code versioning, and remote computing.  The internship will culminate by you presenting your project at the team’s Data Science Showcase, including fielding questions from executives and other thought leaders within the organization.

  • Assist management and other department personnel to support larger projects (e.g., managing project schedule and status reporting)
  • Assume the duties normally performed in the department, alongside professionals who perform these roles
  • Work with various departments and/or vendors to gather information needed for various projects
  • Present project results to management and/or department personnel
  • Perform analytical work
  • Conduct research using the internet and other sources of information
  • Create or update systems or databases for specific department needs

The Team You’ll Join
We are data scientists and machine learning engineers with diverse backgrounds, specialties, and interests. We believe our product is our code. When combined with human intuition and our expertise in statistics, engineering, natural language processing, and economics, that code becomes key in transforming raw ideas into measurable implementations. We create software systems to provide the best possible intelligence and inform business decisions and are using data science to drive change and dominate the non-standard auto-insurance market.
