Job description
100% Remote Role

We're seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer to join our growing team and help us build out a suite of new software products to improve the user experience of healthcare professional job seekers as well as internal users. You'll be leading a small team of developers at a project level. We expect you to work with your team to give feedback on product designs, break down requirements into tasks/stories, and be able to architect well-tested code solutions to meet product requirements.

As Lead Full Stack Engineer, you'll lead the team and make decisions around tech stack, third-party library choices, software architecture, testing strategies, and more! And you're a hands-on coder who leverages your previous experience to lead projects and offer advice and reviews on architecture, design, and implementation. Our current front-end tech stack is Typescript and React and our backend tech stack is Python and Flask, but we always like to make sure we are using the right tools for the job - we already see ourselves writing some backend services in Node.JS in the future.

Some of the things you'll do:
  • Providing technical leadership, code reviews, and mentoring to fellow engineers.
  • Architecting solutions, building features, creating tools, maintaining code, and writing tests for new and existing products.
  • Guiding the evolution of our tech stack selections to meet business needs.
  • Working closely with product and design team in the specification of new features and systems.

And to do this, you'll have:
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer/developer.
  • 2+ years of experience contributing to modern front-end codebases leveraging technologies such as React, Typescript, and the associated ecosystem.
  • 2+ years of experience building REST APIs and other backend systems that interact with a persistent database (with Python or Node.js).
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript/Typescript ecosystem (Open-Source packages, yarn, npm, etc.).
  • Understanding of software development life cycle, including CI/CD and testing best practices.
  • Ability to read and understand existing codebases as well as working on new projects.
  • An understanding of what it takes to make code "production-ready' on both the front-end and back-end: how to handle and log errors, maintain, and publish metrics, etc.
  • Experience effectively organizing and mentoring more junior colleagues technically.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both product management and fellow engineers.
  • Ideally: exposure to AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.

Applicants for employment in the US must have valid work authorization that does not now and/or will not in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the US. We are also unable to do C2C.

We are an equal opportunity employer and make hiring decisions based on merit. Recruitment, hiring, training, and job assignments are made without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, or any other protected classification.
