Job description

At Quest Diagnostics Incorporated, we understand urgency. But more than speed, we focus our energies on accuracy. Currently, we seek a Sr. Leave of Absence Analyst for our Tampa, FL, location. 


Basic Purpose:
Manage, monitor, document and support leave of absence (LOA) activities related to overall LOA administration. Provides analysis of current leave of absence process and assists in the development and design of policies, procedures and practices that will achieve optimal efficiency for employees and supervisors. Provides information, interpretation, guidance and consultation on complex issues that may arise as a result of a LOA associated with Short Term Disability, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), leave as an accommodation under the Americans’ with Disabilities Act (ADA), Personal LOA or Workers’ Compensation. Extracts, organizes, verifies and translates needs of customer and interprets into business policies, procedures and practices.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on end to end LOA processes
  • Ensure that employee leave status is reflected accurately in Quest systems and with the appropriate vendor throughout the duration of a LOA
  • Follow up with vendors to ensure proper claim management and timely claim extensions or adjustments
  • Provide support to supervisors and managers and insure all appropriate information regarding their employee’s LOA
  • Utilize expertise in leave processes to evaluate supervisor and manager requests for job replacement or termination options
  • Partner with FMLA and LOA vendors, supervisors/managers, Total Rewards Center of Excellence (COE), and Employee Relations COE (and occasionally Legal) to evaluate and research issues
    regarding LOA
  • Responsible for ADA process and outcomes in association with Leave of Absences including interactive dialogue with employees and their supervisors
  • Work with supervisors and managers to coordinate return to work from leave of absence
  • Track and follow up on return to work with restrictions and limitations to assess progress
  • Track and analyze incidents related to worker’s compensation including all time loss claims are reported to the LOA Vendor, currently Cigna, promptly and transition to LTD as applicable
  • Insure HRSC Benefits team has appropriate leave information for benefit premium reconciliation
  • Facilitate communication between employees, management, LOA vendors and other HR functions as appropriate
  • Maintain current knowledge of policies, guidelines and employment laws across all regions and functions
  • Maintain thorough and confidential centralized employee files in the case management system
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information, protects the assets of the Company, reports non-compliance and adheres to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, and
    company policies, procedures and practices
  • Participate in or lead functional and cross-functional process improvement initiatives and projects to drive the achievement of business results within the HRSC and/or client groups, with a focus on continuous process improvement
  • Work closely with HR Service Center Manager and COE to ensure rollout and consistent application of functional changes impacting the service center or on issues that relate to or require involvement of the service center team

Qualifications:

Education Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required

Work Experience:

  • 5+ year’s human resources experience in employee relations, leave administration and work accommodations
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations
  • Demonstrate successful handling of complex leave of absence cases
  • Demonstrate ability to lead functional and cross-functional process improvement
    initiatives with a proven track record for positive business results
