Maintenance Mechanic
Maintenance Mechanic: This position is responsible for performing real-time troubleshooting and repair along with general assembly and chemical plant improvements. This position also has direct responsibilities for preventative maintenance
Job Duties:
• Works with Management, the Plant Superintendent and Production Supervisors, and technicians to schedule and conduct necessary repairs on a prioritized basis; • Work directly with Management on the development and perpetuation of the prioritized Maintenance schedule of repair, PM’s, and new installation
• Routine completion of Preventative Maintenance;
• Conducts project planning including a written plan for job execution including time and cost estimates to complete the assigned task;
• Schedule outside contractor work, monitor their work status, complete the contractor checklists, and verify cost estimates vs. invoices;
• Works with gear, diaphragm, and mag-drive pumps;
• Conducts pipework fabrication and welding (when qualified);
• Completes maintenance and repairs on boilers, air compressors, chillers, cooling tower fans and circulation pumps, generators, as well as respective checklists; • Repairs chemical hoses, reactors, tanks, lines, and other miscellaneous plant equipment;
• Provides on-call and overtime support as needed in the evenings and other required times as
• Acts in a stewardship capacity for the Company, works as a functional member of the team, has ability to self-direct and self-regulate work-day;
• Participates in all environmental and safety training as required by Federal, State, County, and Local regulations as well as company policies;
• Suggests improvements for safety and compliance;
• Promptly reports any safety incidents and participates in incident investigations as requested;
• Executes tasks and project responsibilities as outlined from Maintenance Meetings, Daily Updates, and Compliance & PM Scheduled activities and does so with independent time management that may result in a change of tasks planned for the work day.

Requirements:
• Minimum education and practical work experience: high school diploma and/or 5 years of experience in the maintenance field or in a related area, or a suitable combination of education and relevant experience;
• Specialized technical/aptitude experience: minimum of 5 years of experience and demonstrated proficiency with fluid transfer pumps of hazardous chemicals, screw pipe fitting, pipe welding and/or other structural welding, 3-phase 480V electrical, motor and gearbox installation, rigging, and preventative maintenance;
• Ability to safely and effectively operate heavy equipment, i.e. tractors, snorkel lifts, fork lifts, bobcats, etc.;
• Extensive knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the chemical manufacturing industry; Previous work and/or substantial knowledge of, including commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures, within in the thermoset polymer industry or other liquid chemical processing and manufacturing is a strongly considered asset;
• Demonstrated organization, facilitation, communication and presentation skills;
• Ability to prioritize workflow and organize diverse material and ability to handle multiple, competing and changing priorities; ability to perform and problem solve effectively without direct supervision within established time limits and ongoing deadlines
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in writing, and to provide exceptional service internally and externally;
• Relevant computer skills for this position include knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications. Displays adaptability in learning the use of relevant software and displays comprehension of fundamental computer practices and database management.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend and reach, and may occasionally ride in a motor vehicle. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
