Job description

Under the direction of the Administrative Director and the Department Chairman, the Imaging Supervisor at Phoenixville Hospital Outpatient Radiology department, employs professional radiological imaging skills to assure the highest quality management, adherence to all ACR and MQSA guidelines for all age patients (adolescent through geriatric). Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, radiation safety, quality control, patient satisfaction, efficiency of workflow, cost containment, and the technical and clinical issues of the department. The position requires excellent communication, organizational, problem solving and leadership skills. Through excellent leadership skills and communication, the supervisor creates an environment that supports and conveys the organization's mission and vision to all staff members.

Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from newborn to elderly. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. Ensures competency of all personnel. Assists Imaging Services Director in formulating the budget. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all JCAHO, FDA, MQSA, federal, state and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols.


As an Outpatient Imaging Supervisor, you will be expected to provide the highest quality mammography and radiology care to your patients and clients. You will work closely with patients in addition to other care providers and medical staff, and you will mentor and supervise the staff who report to you. The Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and daily operation of the modality outpatient imaging department which includes equipment maintenance, review and revision of departmental policies and procedures, data collection, staffing. working with other imaging supervisors, maintaining the departmental budget, and collaborating with Imaging director on strategic planning.

The supervisor provides direct oversight to the employees at the outpatient imaging department and is responsible for time-card submittal, annual evaluations, mentoring, counseling, staff scheduling, monthly meetings and communicating with all staff.

Along with the administrative and/or supervisory duties, this position provides direct patient care and needs to be a registered mammography and radiologic technologist.

Must be independent yet team oriented and have open communication and dialogue with the Imaging Director whom this position direct reports.

The Center is closed on Tuesdays. This position is scheduled as Monday and Thursdays 730am-600pm, Wednesday and Friday 730am-5pm. Rotates and changes to ensure weekly QC is completed and coverage of the department is maintained




Education Requirements
  • 2 year Associate Degree required
  • Bachelors Degree Preferred
  • Graduate from an approved school of Radiologic Sciences and hold Mammography certification

  • 5 years of Mammography and Radiography experience
  • 1-3 years of supervisory;lead tech;assistant supervisor experience preferred

Certification and Licensure
  • Must be a Registered Radiologic Technologist R.T. (R)
  • Must be a registered Mammography Technologist R.T. (M) (M)Completed and documented 40 hours of dedicated mammography training and 8 hours of digital mammography training
    Must maintain registry Continuing Medical Education requirements of 5 mammography credits annually in addition, required ARRT
    CME requirements must be met annually
  • BLS Certification
