Under the general supervision of the Lead Maintenance Tech and according to established policies and procedures, performs a variety of routine to skilled general and preventive maintenance duties in the repairs, alteration and modification of the building. Prepares surfaces, applies finishes including wallpaper, hang sheetrock, tape and float, textures surfaces, makes repairs to millwork and laminates, furniture, installs and repairs flooring tiles and carpet. Subject to working odd shifts to accomplished assigned duties. Other related duties as required.
Three years in the painting trade, or completion of trade or technical school courses.
EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: A valid New Mexico driver's license
SKILLS: Skilled in all types and the application of paints, stains and other surface coverings. Able to install drywall, tape and float, texture and finish including applying wall paper and vinyl. Knowledge in plastic laminate installation and repair. Installation and repair of floor tiles and carpet and able to do small carpentry projects. Maintains accurate record of work and communicates the status of work to the Maintenance supervisor. Maintains a supply and inventory of materials. Completing work with short deadlines.
EXPERIENCE: Three years in the painting trade. Hospital experience preferred.

Limited exposure to blood borne pathogens. Hazards include infectious and biological waste, cleaning drains, airborne particles, dust, lint, el ectrical shock, high temperatures and gasses. Safety and protective equipment are supplied by the hospital. May be required to work overtime and weekends.
