Main Duties: Varies to cover shifts as needed for employee scheduled or unscheduled time off. Main Duties: Collection of blood and urine specimens using various techniques and devices. Pull and/ or enter patient data in LIS. Process all types of specimens collected. Communicate effectively and politely with internal and external customers. Perform Drug Screens as needed for employee health. Must be willing to work at front desk keeping track of phone calls and greeting patients as they come in. Must learn three computer systems to order patient specimens and process for in-house testing or shipment to core. Must keep track of patient reports for filing and faxing. Assists professional staff in routine technical tasks such as preparation of reagents, centrifugation, tube labeling, placing on machine, starting urine dipstick and pulling printout for MT.
Required Knowledge: High School or equivalent.
Required Experience: Prefer experience in laboratory and proficiency in collecting blood specimens from all age groups including pediatrics and geriatrics. Ability to handle large volume of patients in a timely manner. Ability to successfully interact with all DLO departments and DLO customers. Ability to use multiple computer systems and keyboard.
Special Requirement: Must be willing and able to work all shifts. This position is for a Float Phlebotomist to fill in for unscheduled and scheduled TOP as needed. Ability to maintain a professional courteous and pleasant attitude in times of heavy workload and stress. Teamwork with fellow employees is a must. Employee must have good customer service skills, professional appearance and attitude. Job requires strict attention to detail. Overtime as required by business needs.
