Job description

Waldorf Astoria is looking for a General Manager to oversee our fine dining restaurant, Wright's, at the historic, Arizona Biltmore!

Located in the heart of uptown Phoenix since 1929, this gorgeous 39-acre property has 738 rooms, over 200,000 square feet in banquet space, and 6 food and beverage outlets. These outlets include 3 restaurants, a bar, cafe, and in-room dining.

In this role, you will oversee the fine dining restaurant, Wright's at the Biltmore, managing a team of 20-25 for dinner and weekend brunch service. You will report directly to the Assistant Director of Food & Beverage and play a key role in re-concepting the restaurant and elevating the bar / wine program.

The ideal candidate will be an outstanding leader with a passion for providing exceptional service and a talent for training and developing others. At least 3 years experience as a Restaurant Assistant General Manager or General Manager of an upscale restaurant and Level I Sommelier Certification is required. Level !! Sommelier Certification and prior experience managing a Forbes 4 or 5-Star Restaurant are a plus.

What will I be doing?

As a Restaurant General Manager, you would be responsible for directing and organizing the activities and services of Wright's at the Biltmore in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Manage all outlet operations to include, but not limited to, guest service standards and initiatives, product quality, cost controls and overall profitability, marketing initiatives, systems use and management, budgeting and forecasting, department management, policy and procedure implementation and enforcement and meeting participation and facilitation

  • Monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, conducting counselling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward

  • Monitor and assess product and service and satisfaction trends, evaluate and address issues and make improvements accordingly

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards

  • Initiate and implement marketing and up-selling techniques to promote restaurant food and beverage and services and to maximize overall revenue

  • Ensure team members have current knowledge of outlet offerings, products, services, facilities, events, pricing and policies and knowledge of the local area and events

  • Recruit, interview and train team members
