Robotics Electrical Project Engineer - Healthcare

Design authority for the electrical engineering application. Complete assignment on multiple projects that must be executed and delivered in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Create and modify the standard designs of equipment, systems or installations, including standard specifications for manufacturing, fabrication or construction for assignments by applying standard design concepts but with opportunities to create new concepts.

The Electrical Project Engineer (hardware electrical design) will report to the Technical Manager for the Robotics business in the Healthcare industry. This job is located in Houston, TX

Your responsibilities

  • Designs engineering solutions, including drawings and calculations according to specification. Contributes to design reviews and design verification, modifies design as necessary.Evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments. Provides technical support for testing, and when needed, for installation and commissioning activities. Prepares project documentation within one’s scope of deliverables.
  • Follows work plans and cost estimates for work in one’s area of responsibility and ensures quality deliverables on time and at targeted cost. Identifies variation requests to support contract claims.
  • Completes risk and opportunity assessments and the implementation of resulting actions in one’s area of responsibility. Reports any contract / quality / program / cost is-sues to management for resolution.
  • Collaborates with the supply chain function, reviews vendor documentation, prepares RFQs, provides design related evaluation of proposals for standard materials and equipment. Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of design assignments.
  • Assists in communication with customer pertaining to specific project design assignments or meetings. Uses standard processes and tools, assists in developing new processes and tools for re-use of technical solutions.
  • Provides support and direction for entry level team members, which may include trainees and interns.

Your background

  • Bachelors Degree, preferably in Engineering or Computer Science, and minimum 5 years' experience with design, automation projects, engineering. Masters Degree = Credit given for 2 years of work experience.
  • Open to travel about 25%.
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the USA.
  • Preferred Qualification: experience in Robotics automation, experience in Healthcare is a plus.
  • Experience w/ PLC, component design, electrical standards.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Solidworks, CATIA, Microsoft Office pack.
