A. This position is located in Raleigh, NC
B. The Scheduling Clerk is responsible for scheduling all radiology procedures. This is a centralized scheduling department.
C. This position reports to the Administrative Services Manager and Senior Manager Administrative Services, Quality and Compliance.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
a) Maintains standards of professional care and maintains patient confidentiality.
b) Implements policies and procedures.
c) Performs job responsibilities in a safe, efficient and professional manner.
d) Reports and records pertinent information in the Radiology Information System.
e) Assists patients, referral coordinators, referring physicians and coworkers
f) Participates in economical utilization of supplies.
g) Maintains clean, neat, professional workspace, focusing on protection of confidential information. Personal items are kept at a minimum and out of view of non-employees.
h) Assures that equipment is always maintained and available for use.
i) Assists coworkers and physicians to ensure timely and accurate delivery of care.
j) Establishes and maintains open communication.
k) Assists with / or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse occurrences when necessary.
l) Maintains clean, safe and well-maintained supplied environment for patient and staff.
Scheduling Specific Duties
a) Answers telephone calls by 3rds ring to accomplish scheduling requests from referring physicians' staff, referring physicians and patients.
b) Follows established protocol for providing service in a professional, efficient manner.
c) Ensures that exams are appropriately ordered and are clear and concise.
d) Using the Radiology Information System, places patients in appropriate time and date slots according to the request
e) Enters all demographic information into the RIS.
f) Accurately records insurance information, authorization information, requested procedure, reason for exam and other pertinent data.
g) Informs caller of appropriate preps, arrival time, etc.
h) Answers questions from patients in scope of knowledge. Directs questions to appropriate personnel if unable to answer questions.
i) Provides accurate information re patient history to Radiologist in order for him/her to interpret images with accuracy and proper history.
i) Be concise and accurately reflect physiological facts regarding each patient.
ii) Document special instructions (e.g., stat, quick read, etc.)
iii) Initiate communication directly with peers or other appropriate personnel relative to providing continuous quality patient care
j) Maintains productive level at established standards.
i) Type information into the RIS without error to complete each scheduling encounter within 5minutes of initiation of call.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE
A. Education: MINIMUM: High School Graduate or equivalent.
B. Experience: Minimum one year experience in medical setting. Preference given to applicants with previous experience in Radiology practice
C. Licensure: None
