PenFed is hiring a Senior Analyst, Financial Reporting at our Tysons, Virginia location. The primary purpose of this job is to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external reports (e.g., board reports, committee reports, management reports, annual report, and quarterly NCUA call report) and ensure compliance of such financial statements with management standards, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and regulatory requirements. This position will also deep dive to track various income and balance sheet categories, provide business insight, performance metrics, and drive financial reporting operational improvement. This position will interface regularly with senior management.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and prepare data for various financial, compliance, internal, and external reports utilizing existing tools.
  • Gather variances from business units and provide summary reports for internal reporting to management.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance, streamline, and automate reporting processes and research new ways to use tools to accomplish improvements.
  • Develop scalable reporting that can be utilized across the company in all internal and external financial reporting.
  • Assist with gathering data from controlled sources, working with the business unit controllers to compile information, and reviewing information provided for the annual report and quarterly Call Reports.
  • Provide support for executive ad-hoc requests surrounding financial reporting.
  • Conduct transactional and operational research surrounding financial results and processes.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team and cross-functional teams to provide strategic analysis, insights, reporting and analytics that influence business decision-making.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably Accounting, Information Systems, or Data Analytics related.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of reporting related experience either in a financial reporting or FP&A role.
  • Experience in banking or a credit union operation that provides in-depth knowledge of products, services, systems, policies and procedures, is preferred.
  • Experience working with large datasets and knowledge of various data analysis software packages and tools (e.g., Oracle ERP, Hyperion, BlackLine, Active Disclosures) is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint is preferred.
  • Advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

*Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.*
