Senior Application Engineer

A key role in assisting the sales team, the Sales Support Specialist prepares Large Motors & Generators sales proposals for Motion.

Reporting to the Manager, Global Technical Support, you will be responsible to review the customer inquiries and requests for proposals. The AE prepares a design by using PC software and technical product information etc. and develops a proposal. The AE discussed the proposal and costing with the RSM, who is responsible for the selling price.



Your responsibilities

  • Perform engineering tasks to design a motor in accordance with the customer requirements, ensuring that the solution is the most cost effective and reliable
  • Deliver professional proposals on time, including accurate pricing, full cost pricing that has been reviewed against the account strategy and a scope of supply that meets the customer’s needs
  • Outline risk factors involved in the quotation that are not in the company’s best interest to the regional sales manager when required
  • Act as a technical resource in person or over the phone to customer for addressing, interpreting and resolving of technical inquiries and problems related to assigned product lines
  • Solve technical and costing issues with the Global Customer Support Team
  • Proactively engages in initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the LSU and to increase customer satisfaction



Your background

  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field and minimum 5 years of experience employing large induction- and synchronous motors in various industries and applications
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, financial reports and legal documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers, vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers, vendors, management and other employees of the organization
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, strong written and verbal communication
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
