Position Description:
Job Summary
As the Senior Digital Design Engineer, you will conceptualize, be involved in design, and develop of computer programs and instrument drivers interfacing embedded controllers associated with power products and data acquisition systems. Understand the architect of software configurations to satisfy functional requirements at system level. Armed with leading edge skills and tools, capable of delivering elegant, cost-effective software designs, and to drive improved design/implementation quality.

The position can be located in either Irvine or San Diego, CA.

Roles & Responsibilities
This position has responsibility for:
• Responsible for working with sales and marketing to define product specifications
• Responsible for circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and verification to specifications of new products for the military/aerospace industries taking into consideration electrical, mechanical, software, testing, cost, performance, and manufacturing constraints
• Exceptional ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness in digital electronic design. Applies, develops, and tests advanced technologies, theories, concepts, and principles
• Create and/or review documentation to ensure accuracy regarding design, calibration, test, and assembly and other documentation as required by the Engineering Development Process
• Create and implement test plans and procedures for products based on given requirements. Analyze test results to verify product performance and compliance to requirements
• Oversee and mentor of junior engineers working on digital designs
• Testing and troubleshooting using logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, high speed probing
• Support Applications Engineering & Manufacturing to resolve technical related issues

Job requirements
Position Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)
• 10 years’ experience in Digital design
• 5 years’ experience writing VHDL/Verilog/HLS for Xilinx FPGAs
• 2 years’ experience using the Xilinx Vivado toolchain
• Digital design simulation using Modelsim, Vivado simulator, Matlab/Simulink and Xilinx Simulator and System Generator
• Experience designing, simulating and implementing digital signal processing blocks (i.e. decimation and interpolation filters, FFT, FIR/IIR filters, noise generators, etc.) in FPGA’s
• Experience with Hyperlynx and boardsim highly desirable
• High speed ADC and DAC interface design using VHDL for Xilinx FPGAs (Artix 7, Kintex 7, Zynq, and Spartan 6)
• QDR SRAM, DDR2, DDR3/4 SDRAM, MDII Ethernet MAC, UART, USB, PCIe (gen 1 and gen 2), I2C, SPI interface logic using VHDL for Xilinx FPGAs (Spartan 6, Artix 7 , Kintex7 and Zynq)
• Experience using system on chip devices and AXI3/4 interconnect
• Experience managing prototype PCBAs: bringing up, testing and troubleshooting prototypes
• Experience with switching power supply design for digital systems
• Experience writing bare-metal C-code to verify FPGA IP modules inside an SoC is highly desirable
• Experience managing bills of materials, PCBA assembly packages, writing ECOs, and working with operations to transfer designs to manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with signal switching (DC to 28GHz RF) is highly desirable

Education Requirements
• BS in Electrical Engineering (M.S. a plus)
