Job Description

As a key member of the site Supply Chain Leadership Team the the Senior Manager, Planning will lead the planning processes and team in the translation of short and long term demand to production requirements including inventory, capacity and volume to deliver on time supply to customers.

Lead and have ownership & accountability for operational budget plans.  Lead alignment with manufacturing, procurement, MS&T, finance and other areas to ensure consistency and that plans are delivering tactical, strategic and financial targets. Lead in the preparation of a rolling master manufacturing plan and develop multiple scenarios based on changing business needs and priorities, articulating key decisions and recommendations through site process and forums into the global S&OP process.

Lead in the creation of long term plans supporting the S&OP planning horizon, determine long term requirements for production and inventory. Responsibility for all short and long term capacity planning output models within the N+5 campaign planning horizon

Define and manage the primary, formulation, buffer and Fill Finish operational plans to ensure Commercial requirements are met. Directly contribute to maximization of profitability through optimization of the operational plans.  Influence other functions to support the business plans and strategic objectives.

Provide leadership and oversight for planning requirements related to Flu pandemics. Lead the pandemic S&OP process and liaise with Global Planning on inter-site pandemic plans and strategies. Continually strive for full pandemic readiness of materials and components working with procurement. Provide a forum via pandemic S&OP to ensure all functions on site are pandemic ready.

To manage all site manufacturing plans and align with Contract Manufacturing Organisation plans to meet customer needs. Provide strategic input to Supply and Operational Planning processes including liaison with Global Planning.  Support the Head of Supply Chain in development of plans for the Global Supply Review Meeting activities.

Drive cross site and cross functional collaboration with Global Planning,  and other manufacturing sites to ensure new market launches, and new products are supplied on time, aligning with the global network strategy.

Lead in the development of SAP process expertise in the team. Oversee the release of orders and the maintenance of accurate supply chain master data. Accountability for SAP supply chain expertise on the Liverpool site.

Define inventory holding strategy and targets for all raw materials. Ensure stock levels are continually reviewed and minimised in order to reduce holding stock and write offs whilst ensuring safety stock levels are maintained at appropriate levels to prevent stock outs. Look for opportunities to continually improve. Escalate any issues or concerns and manage these issues with the support of the Procurement organisation.

Lead inventory planning and recommendations for pandemic preparedness.  Provide strategic input into the pandemic S&OP process.

Lead continuous improvement projects in order to add value to the supply chain planning process.  Challenge current processes and practice and actively seeks ways to simplify, reduce waste and add value.   Drive and support initiatives that provide alignment in planning processes across the Seqirus manufacturing sites.

Develop the Planning team to continue to take on additional accountabilities and ownership of activities in line with the team’s career aspirations. Develop team members’ capability and performance in order to meet flexible and changing business needs. Direct the Planning team & ensure cover for team during absence.

Minimum Education Requirements

Preferably educated to a degree level or hold relevant management qualifications relating to supply chain planning.

System skills to manage supply planning tasks using software applications, SAP, Excel and good analytical skills.

Minimum Experience Requirements

  • Strong project management and communication skills focusing on data gathering, presentation, facilitation and dissemination.
  • Excellent consultative skills and the ability to work cross functionally and with all levels of the organisation.
  • Detail orientated, organised, reliable, resourceful with a relentless focus on outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently, multi task and prioritise under pressure.
  • Supply planning leadership experience and preferably experience of managing teams.
