Job description

Supervises all non-administration production support departments including but not limited to: pyramid services, sanitation, land nutrient management, transportation, feed haul contractors, live haul contractors, maintenance contractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned by manager.

  • Responsible to lead improvement that will result in improved profitability.

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates support activities to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished.

  • Leads efforts to ensure alignment & implementation with all management systems

  • Ensures implementation of continuous improvement procedures to develop company staff, lower variation and improve production.

  • Ensures compliance with standard operating procedures and other management practices through periodic monitoring.

  • Provide training and information from various sources to increase knowledge and development staff.

  • Work with Support groups, Pig flow scheduling, Feedmill, Supply, Accounting, and

    Human Resources on a professional level, utilizing them to improve systems.

  • Ensures implementation and support to various certification initiatives that exist in the SPG business including Animal Welfare, Biosecurity, Environmental and others that apply.

  • Manages financial performance by controlling costs, budgeting, business and financial planning and tracking financial activity via P&L review.

  • Ensures safety procedures are in place, monitoring managers to reinforce the need to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries.

  • Ensures all company assets have preventative and routine maintenance occurring in a timely and effective manner.

Ordinary Methods of Job Performance:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs when working with various departments

  • Utilization of general office environment and equipment while performing office related duties

  • Utilization of company assigned vehicle to travel for all company related business

Job requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per company policy

  • Minimum 4 year degree and 5 years Production management experience or the equivalent of 10 years Production management experience in an Agriculture related field
  • Demonstrated history of successful production.

  • Must have excellent leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to seek counsel and problem solve using teammates and associates.
  • Have understanding of sow computer recording systems.
  • Ability to develop and implement work plans that are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Have an understanding of work experience using continuous improvement procedures.
  • Must be able to foster teamwork and cultural diversity in a team situation.
  • Proven professional oral and written communication skills
  • Professional presentation skills
  • Proven working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access and Internet System
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must be available for occasional travel
  • Must be available to work nights and weekend when necessary
  • Must be supportive of the mission of raising swine for human consumption of high quality pork products

  • Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental laws and procedures to which the company subscribes.

  • Report all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.

  • Read and understand the company’s emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their work site.
