Currently we have an opening available for a Senior Financial Analyst – Cost of Testing Analytics; the location is flexible and periodic travel is required.
The Cost of Testing Analytics team has ownership of the Cost of Testing application, Acorn Systems, that Quest uses to calculate, analyze, and update the cost of testing, and is part of the Operations Finance organization. This position is an enabler to utilize their business system skills while learning specifics about the company and the healthcare industry. The role reports to the Director, Cost of Testing Analytics, and there is a natural progression to other finance
and leadership roles within Quest Diagnostics.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with three to five years of experience including strong computer, analytical, and interpersonal skills. This individual will partner with regional leadership providing cost of testing details, identifying areas of potential cost reductions, and measuring the success of cost reduction initiatives. Other ad-hoc projects will be required with an emphasis on cost accounting, raw material (reagent) utilization, and profitable growth through cost improvement measures.
The maintenance and updates to the Acorn application are a collaborated effort amongst the Cost of Testing Analytics team, and this position will participate in the system updates, data validation, and other monthly closing activities as they relate to the cost of testing system. Drive continuous improvement to deliver the highest quality.
Contribute to the monthly cost of testing reporting in an effort to create a better understanding that will deliver meaningful insights.
Support multiple regions by dialoging with regional leadership on the actual cost per test results, and support them on all initiatives related to cost of testing.
Analyze direct and indirect labor costs to determine proper recording of labor costs on a per test basis, and the fixed and variable costs to ensure they are properly understood and differentiated.
Maintain appropriate system documentation for the cost of testing system, and prepare/analyze annual cost of testing updates.
Identify issues/opportunities to improve financial performance with individual and collaborated analytics of the cost of testing data.
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting with three to five years’ experience in Cost Accounting, Finance, or equivalent field.
Critical Thinking, Financial Acumen, and Framing and Influencing skills are required.
The ability to work with large datasets, interpret/develop data transformations, and manage data files is a desired skillset for this position.
An understanding of cost accounting concepts, the interworking of a general ledger, and general accounting principles are needed.
Knowledge of business system design concepts and the ability to decipher/modify program logic is a plus.
Knowledge and experience with the development, configuration and maintenance of financial business systems is a plus.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are required along with the ability to collaborate with people at all levels of the company.
Proficiency using the MS Office suite of products is required.
Experience with MS SQL Server, Acorn Systems, and/or PeopleSoft Financials is a plus.
Experience in a clinical laboratory is plus.
