Job Description

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision to all three shifts of sanitation associates, monitoring productivity, providing training, coaching and motivating associates. You will also be responsible for adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) that are in effect, assuring the safety, quality and quantity of product produced.

Essential Functions/ Job Duties:

  • Coordinate all plant sanitation functions to ensure compliance with product safety, quality, safety, regulatory requirements, and cGMP
  • Supervises, counsels and coaches associates on a regular basis resulting in safe, efficient operations
  • Coordinate manufacturing support for sanitation activities
  • Maintain all sanitation records and logs
  • Personal responsibility for following safety rules, SOPs and cGMPs guidelines
  • Ensures all associates receive proper training, such as GMP, SOP, Sanitation SOP, safety, chemical control and sanitation operations
  • Process time cards, manage time-off requests, ensures associate coverage per business needs for department associates
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of new associates
  • Manage cleaning and sanitation chemicals including inventory, concentration verification's, proper usage and ordering. Serve as the primary contact with the chemical supplier for establishing and maintaining the proper chemicals and usage of cleaning agent
  • Manage chemical approval process for new chemicals
  • In cooperation with Quality develop, implement and maintain MSS, SOPs and Sanitary Preventive Maintenance Schedules 
  • Follow up on completion of sanitation-related issues found during internal and external inspections
    Monitor compliance with GMPs
  • Participate as a member of HACCP team and ensure that sanitation issues in regards to HACCP are in compliance
  • Manage sanitation verification program 
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Supports 3rd Party Certification Audits and all Regulatory audits.
  • Manage all cleaning utensil (e.g., rags, brushes, scrapers, etc.) inventories, budget spending on utensils, and safe chemical handling equipment (e.g., gloves, boots, face shields, aprons, etc.)
Job requirements
Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have 3 years prior experience in a food, nutraceutical and/or pharmaceuticals manufacturing environment with sanitation responsibilities.   

  • Must have sanitation training, such as AIB 
  • Experience in chemical usage and disposal
  • Developing self and working in support of team success
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of cGMP and appreciation for what are generally considered to be currently best practices in the industry.
  • Previous supervisory experience 
  • Familiar with 3rd party audit scheme
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Technical degree preferred (Associates or Bachelor degree)
  • Two or more years related supervisory experience and/or training in relevant industry
  • The ability to effectively provide coaching and direction to Team Leaders, and Associates in production and/or distribution operations
  • The ability to create and implement TPM systems
  • The ability to effectively communicate to and collaborate with senior management, outside consultants, suppliers and subordinates
  • Technical writing
  • Demonstrated ability to constructively participate in tactical and strategic technical planning discussions for capital programs and other major projects undertaken
  • Should be an assertive self-starter, who can also consistently display the interpersonal skills of both a strong leader and an effective team player
  • Sound judgment and high ethical standards, coupled with proven negotiating skills, which reflect a solid combination of business acumen, common sense, insight and an agile intellect
  • High level of organizational skills, good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to multi-task and follow-up when responses are needed
  • Problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Basic mathematical abilities and computer literacy
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (read, write and speak) in English is clearly required. Any additional foreign language skills would be seen as a plus
  • Must be able to walk or stand for a majority of the day
  • Must be able to perform light lifting
  • Must be able to talk to and hear associates contacted on the job
  • Must be able to use a keyboard, hand tools, and work in awkward positions (bending, squatting, etc.)
  • Must be flexible to work during the weekend, if needed
