TECHNICIAN– VEHICLE TESTING OPERATIONS

  PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

•   Responsible for performingemissions test procedures on vehicle chassis dynamometers and using otherspecialized test equipment such as SHEDs

•   Responsible for monitoringthe accuracy and quality of all test data generated

•   Responsible for theinstallation of vehicles into the test cell, installing instrumentation,setting up the test control interface, and maintenance of various measurementdevices

•   Reports to the Lead VehicleTechnician

  SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

•   At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity andProfessional Conduct

•   High attention to detail and highly professionalappearance

•   Prepare, refuel, installand setup vehicles as necessary for testing

•   Follow documentedprocedures to properly execute test plans

•   Perform initial dataquality checks

•   Configure test site forsafe and optimal testing

•   Become proficient at usingthe test cell automation systems

•   Setup data channelconfigurations and test profiles; save data files in the specified formats

•   Assist facility andinstrumentation engineers to maintain emissions analyzers and ensure plumbing,air supply, and fuel supply are adequate for each test configuration

•   Conduct vehicle maintenanceand component changes

•   Consistent exercise of independent judgment anddiscretion in matters of significance

•   Regular, consistent and punctual attendance

•   Ability to work nights, weekends, and variableschedule(s) as necessary

•   Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned
Job requirements

PROFILE

•   Associates degree (orequivalent experience)

•   Experience in engine orvehicle maintenance, repair, and diagnostic troubleshooting

•   Skilled use of MicrosoftOffice Suite, particularly Word and Excel

•   Ability to work nights,weekends, and variable schedule (s) as necessary

•   Effective at communicatingoperational issues and test quality issues to engineers and managers

  REQUIRED SKILLS

•   High level of integrity, ethics, and drive towardscustomer service with strong poise, tact, and diplomacy

•   Strong orientation towards teamwork•   Strong Verbal & Written Communication skills

•   Desire to work in fast paced, rapidly changing andresults’ oriented environment

•   High ability to manage time to prioritize competingtasks and demands being able to successfully resolve them

•   Conduct vehicle performanceand emissions tests in collaboration with an engineer

•   Ability to approachproblems in a scientific manner and implement resolutions with minimal guidance

•   Able to use motorizedequipment to move vehicles and materials.

•   Able to bend, squat, liftup to 50 lbs. stand or sit for up to two hours

•   Use basic hand and powertools to maintain vehicles and laboratory equipment

•   Use a MS Windows basedcomputer including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and custom software

•   Able to read and interpretdata to participate in data quality review and troubleshooting activities

•  Demonstrates strong commitment to SGS HSE Policies,Procedures, and Work Instructions by participating in safety meetings,completing required training, intervening in unsafe situations, refusing unsafework, and complying fully with all applicable laws and regulations related toHSE

•  Responds appropriately to emergency situations and assistsother staff members in maintaining readiness to respond to emergencies withinthe workplace

•  In accordance with the SGS HSE Management Systemrequirements, disposes of, or directs the disposal of, waste generated as apart of daily work performed in a safe manner and in compliance with all wastetransportation and disposal regulations and requirements.

•  Reports all incidents (actuals and near misses) inaccordance with the SGS Incident Reporting requirements

•  Uses all equipment (including safety equipment) in the manner intendedand reports any damaged / lost equipment to supervisor

•  Maintain a safe and tidy worksite

•  Maintains awareness of hazards / proposes controls to supervisor, HSERepresentatives or relevant site contact

•  Actively participates in incident investigations and risk assessments asdeemed necessary by SGS management

  OTHER INFORMATION:  •   Valid driving license •   Personal tools required for the job

•   Ability and willingness to travel, sometimes on shortnotice

•   Reliable transportation

•   Must successfully pass drugscreen and background check.
