Job Summary:The Vice President, Procurement North America oversees the business operations and establishes overall direction and strategic initiatives of the Procurement and Supply Chain function within North American Region (US, Canada and Mexico). They will plan and direct all regional Procurement and Supply Chain policies, objectives and initiatives to ensure successful, efficient and economical acquiring materials and supplies essential to the company's function. Serves as a key member of the regional Finance leadership team.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Integrates the Procurement and Supply Chain organization with the overall SGS organization through business partnering. Ensures best contribution to the SGS group-wide objectives and priorities: profitability, growth and innovation.
  • Represents the global Procurement and Supply Chain function in the region by enabling effective roll-out of global projects and processes and achievement of targets. Develops new opportunities from within the region and promotes regional / global roll-out.
  • Across the region, provides leadership and expertise to establish, functionally manage and continuously develop a passionate and high performing regional Procurement organization covering all countries.
  • Ensures compliance within the regional Procurement and Supply Chain function
  • Maximizes value from suppliers in the region: drives competition, optimizes service levels, creates innovative solutions and ensures compliance and sustainability
  • Leads change, ensures successful and smooth implementation of the best global practices within the regional function.

Business Partnering
  • Establishes Procurement and Supply Chain priorities aligned with the global and regional SGS business strategy. Analyzes spend, trends and patterns and proactively partners with regional business leadership teams to identify major forward oriented Procurement and Supply Chain opportunities.
  • Annually establishes regional Procurement and Supply Chain targets and priorities aligned with SGS group Procurement function targets and SGS Group targets.
  • Aligns Procurement and Supply Chain priorities and targets with the regional business leadership teams and local procurement managers, aiming to achieve the globally agreed upon regional targets.
  • Effectively collaborates with and involves relevant internal stakeholders (global Procurement, Finance, business, operations, etc.) to foster ideation and create solutions for potential opportunities in an open and future oriented manner.
  • Overcomes barriers and conflicts in a proactive manner through effective research and business partnership while always considering the overall SGS priorities and business continuity in the region and countries.
  • Serves as a key member of the regional Finance leadership team
Functional
  • Develops and executes regional project pipelines (sourcing, excellence, supply chain, supplier partnerships) in alignment with the global project pipeline established by global Procurement and including the local Procurement project pipelines.
  • Implements comprehensive regional strategies and solutions targeting the best overall value for SGS, Including but not limited to savings (LC-OPEX, CAPEX, Network Assessment Fee (NAF), & rebates, cost avoidance), efficiency improvements (automation, simplification, digitalization, supplier consolidation, business planning), supply chain integration (inventory optimization, lead time reduction, capacity utilization improvement, forecasting), and net working capital optimization (inventories, payment terms)
  • Leads regional requests for information/proposal/quotations (Request for Information (RFx)) and regional contract negotiations with suppliers to ensure value for money and excellent service levels across all categories of spend
  • Leads regional supplier selection process in cooperation with business. Implements contracts by applying adequate change management to ensure seamless transition, business continuity and user adoption.
  • Continuously measures and develops supplier performance with respect to KPIs, contractual obligations and service level agreements
  • Ensures regional contracts are completed for the majority of spend. Includes appropriate service level agreements/service standards with suppliers and monitors compliance through regular audits and appropriate escalation in the event of non-conformance
  • Leads the regional strategic supplier relationships. Acts as a single point of contact - regional supplier relationship manager (R-SRM) - for managing the overall partnership between SGS and the supplier, while enabling effective direct collaboration between SGS and supplier functions. Acts as delegate of the global supplier relationship manager (G-SRM) for global strategic suppliers
  • Ensures sustainability requirements: responsible souricng, health and safety regulations, the bribery act and the modern slavery act and establishes appropriate protection for SGS in the event of non compliance or service delivery issues.
  • Incorporates adequate performance criteria into the annual negotiation
  • Ensures regional contracts are completed for the majority of spend. Includes appropriate service level agreements/service standards with suppliers and monitors compliance through regular audits and appropriate escalation in the event of non-conformance
  • Leads regional procurement transformation projects (P2P, e-invoicing, e-sourcing, inventory management, OTM, etc.) within the region, ensures country Procurement managers assume full accountability for local implementation
Leadership
  • Provides functional leadership: establishes targets, priorities, best practices, talent development, compliance, performance, business partnership to the country procurement teams in the region.
  • Ensures country Procurement teams within the region are adequately organized and structured. Provides appropriate support, guidance and training for local Procurement to realize maximum value to their stakeholders
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with group Procurement policies and procedures in procurement and in the broader organization (e.g. segregation of duties, contract and process compliance) to minimize business risks and meet the annual targets.
Job requirements

Education & Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or in a related discipline. Master’s degree in in Procurement and Supply Chain Management preferred
  • 15 years total Procurement and Supply Chain Management experience, with 5 years in senior leadership positions
  • 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience working in the matrix organization and liaising with subsidiaries, corporate businesses and functions
  • Knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable to Procurement and Supply Chain Management
  • Advanced level user proficiency in MS Office Suite required
  • E-Sourcing tool, Oracle iProcurement “hand on” experience required
  • Technology savvy and well-versed in financial analytics
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret financial and regulatory information
  • Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to excellent customer service
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including the ability to effectively present and discuss confidential information and respond to questions from executive leaders
  • Travels up to 25% of time. Some travel might be international.
