In this role you will serve as the Vice President of Product Management with overall responsibility for understanding the market and competitive dynamics, developing, maintaining, and executing growth strategy for the Electrification’s Power Conversion business division. Their organization will consist of global segments, product management, product marketing, and pricing.

Reporting to the President of Electrification’s Power Conversion business division (ELPC).



Your responsibilities

  • As the Vice President of Product Management, you will contribute to business strategy definition, translate business strategy, and market requirements into competitive portfolio and manage associated portfolio planning, investment and development activity
  • Defining a go-to-market model and segment strategy and align with the operational/execution path
  • Leading Product Management teams to meet growth objectives for the business division
  • Manages a global product portfolio (of software, hardware, and services) throughout its entire life cycle, with responsibility for product/system/ service profitability
  • Monitors and evaluates the performance of the portfolio and makes decision for investments
  • Leads product/system/service and solution strategy creation
  • Proposes and is directly involved in Business Development partnership activities, to grow organically and inorganically including defining brand, product/system/service portfolio and related business strategy
  • Analyses and tracks globally market, technology, competitor and customer requirements and trends related to the product/system/service business and determines competitive attributes, prioritization, and value proposition
  • Identifies needs, opportunities and risks and positioning against competition
  • Acts as interface between customers and business functions (e.g., Sales, Operations, Services, Research & Development) to achieve the desired outcomes for the customer and business division
  • Ensures (with HR Manager support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed
  • Guides, motivates, and develops direct and indirect subordinates within HR policies
  • Initiates and drives staff development and job rotation programs for the global product management community to develop competence and global awareness
  • Establishes and maintains succession planning for key positions within Product Management



Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Software Engineering from an accredited university or college with minimum 15 years business experience leading global, cross-functional teams and MS EE/ME and/or MBA degrees desired.
  • Proven track record of implementing, managing, developing, and leading high performing teams.
  • Experience in establishing C-level Customer relationships with End Users and Original Equipment Manufacturers.
  • Previous experience in the Power Electronics, Telecommunication, Data Center, Oil and Gas, Utility markets.
  • Familiarization with NPI process.
  • Ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong business analysis, problem solving, and strategy development skills.
  • Working knowledge of growing a Service offering across an installed base.
  • Six Sigma or equivalent Quality training.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25% of the time.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
